Forensic Psychological Evaluation
Caring for our elders and other vulnerable people sometimes requires difficult decisions. When questions about decision-making capacity arise, Dr. Carroll’s comprehensive examinations provide a detailed assessment of cognitive functioning, judgment, emotional state, and coping skills.
Complex issues that must often be addressed include:
- Cognitive capacity to convey power of attorney
- Need for guardianship of estate
- Need for guardianship of person
- Testamentary capacity
- Susceptibility to undue influence
- Susceptibility to exploitation
- Cognitive capacity to consent to treatment
- Cognitive ability to maintain independent living
Working with patients, their families, legal counsel, public agencies, and other professionals, Dr. Carroll helps develop a plan to ensure health, safety, financial security, and dignity.
Dr. Carroll typically meets with patients in their homes, so as better to understand their environment, and to minimize their distress. His services are frequently requested by the protective service agencies of several Pennsylvania Counties, and he regularly testifies in court.
